Our Story
My journey began when I came to the United States from New Zealand on a soccer scholarship. During the summers, I worked for various moving companies across Dallas, Texas. Over the course of a few years, I developed a deep passion for the moving industry and for the people I got to meet.
When I transferred to a school in Arizona, I was stuck with no money, no housing, and no help. All I had was my girlfriend who’d just moved across the country with me, our dog, and a small pickup truck I’d bought with a covid-19 stimulus check that broke down almost every month. I needed money asap and didn’t have time to hope someone would hire me, so I started using the truck for odd jobs and flipping free furniture to make ends meet - all while juggling life as a full-time student-athlete.
surprisingly these side hustles worked out, and I made a good living working for myself for a few semesters. That experience lit a fire in me - it made me realize i wanted to run my own business. So I started what would eventually become Wild West Moving with that same beat-up truck (which of course broke down on the way to our first job).
In the first six months, we were lucky to book even one job a week. I had to learn a lot of lessons the hard way, getting burned by a few customers and collaborators. There were several times I nearly quit, but thanks to the support of my girlfriend, I stuck with it. Things turned around when I decided to stop doing side-gigs and spend every spare second doing anything i could to get the business noticed. within weeks of that decision, we were busy every day and I now had the credibility to hire a solid trustworthy team. By the end of that first year, while still in college, we had profited six figures. But more importantly, I was able to create jobs for others, many with families to support.
Now, less than two years since founding Wild West Moving, we’re a fully licensed and insured company with a fleet of three trucks, including a 26-foot box truck with a lift-gate. We’re on a mission to reach seven figures and create dozens more jobs for good people. We’d love for you to be a part of our journey, just as we hope to be a part of yours.
