Moving Day Tips for a Faster, Smoother Move
At Wild West Moving, we know moving can be stressful — but good preparation makes all the difference! While we don’t require you to follow these tips, they will help your move to go smoothly and within your budget.
Pack Smart for a Smooth Move
Box Up Small Items – The more that’s packed in boxes, the easier (and faster) the move. Boxes stack efficiently, while loose items waste truck space, risk damage, and require a lot of extra walking back and forth.
Label Your Boxes – & label rooms in your new home to match the labels on boxes and ensure they go into the right rooms.
Seal Boxes Properly – Open or overstuffed boxes risk breaking.
Plan Ahead for Large Items
Decide What’s Moving – If you don’t need it, donate or dispose of it before move day to avoid extra handling.
Disassemble Big Furniture If Possible – Taking apart beds, tables, and shelving in advance can save time rather than having the movers do it for you.
Empty Drawers & Cabinets – Movers recommend clearing them out to prevent shifting and damage during transport.
Protect Your TV & Fragile Items
Use a TV Box for Flat Screens – TVs are best transported in dedicated boxes to avoid damage. If you don’t have one, check with us or your local hardware store.
Wrap Fragile Items Well – Extra padding prevents breakage—bubble wrap and packing paper go a long way!
Be Ready When Movers Arrive
Keep Essentials With You – Important documents, medications, chargers, and valuables should travel separately, not in the moving truck.
Make Pathways Clear – A clutter-free space helps movers work efficiently and safely.
Secure Appliances – If moving a fridge, it’s best to unplug and defrost it at least a day ahead.
